A dazzling set of 3 arch tea light holders in metallic red leaf with a clear lacquer coat. This modern lacquer creation has it's roots in the traditional Buddhist practice of putting squares of gold leaf on a statue of the Buddha when visiting a temple. Each visitor puts one square of 24k gold leaf on the icon, says their prayer and lights a stick of incense. The entire statue is quickly covered in gold. Here the gold leaf is replaced by metallic red, but the squares are is still applied one leaf at a time until the whole piece is covered. The candle holder is finished with the application of many successive layers of clear glossy lacquer.
